Description:

Founded on December 23, 1889 by English workers of the Rio Tinto mines, Recreativo are the oldest club in Spain. In 1909 Recre applied successfully for Royal patronage and were allowed to add Real to the club name. In 1932 Recreativo pulled out of the regional FederaciГіn Sur in protest at a controversial loss to Betis. Soon after a new club was created name Onuba, although for all intents and purposes it was the same team. It was thirteen long years before they were able to officially return to their traditional name. Onuba was the Roman name for the city of Huelva. Recreativo Huelva reached the Copa del Rey final in 2003, their best-ever finish in the tournament. The Decano nickname means something like 'grand old man' in English. It is a reference to Recreativo's status as the oldest club in Spain. The Recreativo emblem is a simple thing, the club's initials in a shield of the club colors with a crown at the top symbolizing the Royal patronage. The blue and white colors are those of the city flag of Huelva.

Estadio Nuevo Columbino:

Huelva was an important city in the development of Christopher Columbus's plan for discovery of the New World and in fact he set sail from a small town less than 10 miles away. The Huelva region as a whole is quite proud of this heritage and number of sites and events are known as Colombino, including both the present and previous stadium that Recreativo use.

Previous stadium: Estadio de VelГіdromo (1892-1957), Estadio Colombino - originally Estadio Municipal (1957-2001).
