Description:

The name Forest is taken from the Forest Recreation Ground, a public park in Nottingham where the club were founded. Nottingham Forest are one of the oldest football clubs in the world. Founder members of the Football Alliance before its absorption into the the Football League in 1892. Four successive seasons in the late 1970s resulted in promotion, league title and two European Cup trophies, the greatest period in the club's history. These were accomplished under legendary manager Brian Clough, who had previously led arch-rival Derby County to a league title just a few seasons before. Forest spent a few years in third-tier League One and now have the unhappy distinction of being the first European Cup winners to play outside their country's top two divisions. The club's emblem includes a tree (symbolic of nearby Sherwood Forest of Robin Hood fame) and a river (the river Trent which runs through the city).

City Ground:

The City Ground is located just across the river Trent from city rival Notts County's ground and just a couple of blocks from the Trent Bridge cricket ground.

Previous stadiums: Forest Racecourse (1865-79), The Meadows (1879-80), Trent Bridge Cricket Ground (1880-82), Parkside (1882-85), Gregory (1885-90).
