Description:

Derby County were formed as an off-season pursuit by members of Derbyshire County Cricket Club as a way of keeping fit during the winter months. The club were members of the Football League at its 1888 foundation. Three years later Derby County merged with Derby Midland FC. The Derby Ram is referenced in an old English folk song and is a symbol of the city. Unsurprisingly it appears in the club's logo.

Pride Park Stadium:

The club's longtime stadium takes its unique name from owner Sir Fancis Ley, who had ambitions to convert the English to baseball. The current one, built in 1997, is located within a redeveloped section of the city of Derby called Pride Park.

Previous Stadium: Racecourse Ground (1884-95), Baseball Ground (1895-1997).
